Ballyjamesduff AFC Committee would like to provide a statement regarding our decision to step down from our roles. Firstly, we want to make it very clear that our decision is not related to the children, their behaviour, or their enjoyment of football. The children have always been at the centre of our work in the club, and they continue to be a credit to their families, coaches, and this footballing community.
Over time, however, the environment around the administration of the club has become increasingly volatile. The level of workload expected of volunteers, along with the tone and pressure that has developed in recent adult interactions, has made it no longer possible for us to carry out our roles in a way that is healthy, positive, or sustainable.
We have always tried to act in the best interests of player wellbeing, safeguarding, and the smooth running of the club. However, we also have to consider our own family lives, professional responsibilities, mental health, and personal boundaries. For these reasons, we believe stepping aside at this time is the right decision.
We want to sincerely thank the many parents, coaches, committee members, and volunteers who have been supportive and respectful. Your positivity and kindness made a genuine difference.
We will remain available for a short handover period to support a smooth transition. We hope the club now takes this opportunity to look at how roles are shared, how volunteers are supported, and how communication is handled moving forward, so that the environment becomes positive and viable for those who take it on next.
We wish the club continued success and, most importantly, we wish every child continued enjoyment, growth, and confidence in their football journey.

📢 Ballyjamesduff AFC– Extraordinary General Meeting ( EGM)
Ballyjamesduff AFC will be holding an EGM on Wednesday, 10th December.
At this meeting, eight members of the current committee will be standing down. After a period of increasing workload and the unreasonable demands of a minority of our members, the current committee is no longer sustainable in its present form.
As a result, a number of key roles will need to be filled in order for the club to continue to operate effectively for all of our children and teams.
Positions becoming vacant:
Chairperson
Vice Chairperson
Secretary
Children’s Officer (Child Welfare / Safeguarding Officer)
Registrar
Committee Members x 2
●We are asking parents, coaches, and club supporters to consider putting themselves forward.
●The club can not run without volunteers. A strong committee ensures that all of our players, from the academy to the senior level, have a safe, organised, and positive environment to play football.
●If you have skills in organisation, communication, safeguarding, fundraising, administration, or simply care about the club’s future, your involvement would be greatly valued.
☆The future of the club depends on shared support. Please attend the EGM, hear what is involved, and consider taking an active role.
●Venue St Joseph's Hall Ballyjamesduff
●8pm
■
All club members and parents are encouraged to attend and take part in shaping the future of the club.
As the Constitution of the club requires nominations 14 days in advance, we feel this is not practical for this crisis situation.
In order to give every member of Ballyjamesduff AFC an opportunity to participate fully we propose the first item of the EGM is to accept nominations from the floor on the night and the second item is the election of the officers as listed above.
Thank you,
Ballyjamesduff AFC
